Coating Blade Angle

The coating blade angle exerts a significant influence on the flow direction and distribution state of coating liquid. It shall be comprehensively adjusted according to factors such as the viscosity, fluidity and solid content of the coating liquid, substrate properties, coating speed and coating thickness.

The adjustable range of the coating blade angle is from 15° to 90°. During the operation of blade coaters, the recommended angle between the blade and the tangent at the contact point of the anilox roll is generally 15°~30°, which can effectively avoid blade vibration and jumping caused by an excessively large angle.

Forces applied by moving units will cause blade deformation, changing the actual blade angle during the coating process. Even with the same initial installation angle, the actual working angle may vary due to the displacement of moving components. Therefore, the blade angle needs to be measured by photography or other detection methods.
